📐 How Scaling Works
Recipe scaling multiplies each ingredient by a ratio. If the original recipe serves 4 and you need 6 servings, multiply everything by 1.5 (6÷4).

- 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon
- 4 tablespoons = ¼ cup
- 1 cup = 8 fluid ounces

💡 Scaling Best Practices
Don’t scale baking recipes more than 2-3× without adjusting technique. Leavening (baking powder/soda) doesn’t scale linearly — use slightly less when doubling.
Salt, spices, and vanilla can often be reduced when scaling up. Start with 75% of the calculated amount and adjust to taste.
⚠️ Watch Out For
Cooking times don’t scale directly with recipe size. A doubled casserole needs more time, but not double. Check doneness rather than relying on timers.
Egg-based recipes are tricky — you can’t use half an egg easily. Round to the nearest whole egg or use a kitchen scale for precision.
