Sign a PDF online: draw, type or upload your signature, add initials, a date or text, and download the signed file. No sign-up, and the PDF stays on your device.
or drop it here
One PDF at a time, any size or page count. It opens on this device and is never uploaded.
Add to page 1
Drag to move it, or use the arrow keys. Plus and minus change the size. Delete removes it.
Select a field on the page to move, resize or edit it.
How it works
Signing a PDF online means placing an image of your signature, plus any initials, dates or text the document asks for, onto its pages and saving a new copy. Here all of it happens inside your browser.
- Open your PDF
Choose or drop the file. A password-protected PDF opens after you enter its password.
- Create your signature
Draw it with a finger, pen or mouse, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of it.
- Place it and download
Drag each field into place, resize it, add dates and text, then download the signed copy.
An electronic signature, not a digital certificate
This tool adds an electronic signature: a picture of your signature drawn into the page. It is not a certificate-based digital signature. A digital signature is a cryptographic seal made with a certificate issued to the signer; it shows who signed and whether the file changed afterward. This tool does neither.
In the United States, the federal ESIGN Act and the state laws based on the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act give electronic signatures the same legal effect as handwritten ones for most transactions. There are exceptions, such as wills and some court and family-law documents. In the European Union, the eIDAS regulation says an electronic signature cannot be denied legal effect or refused as evidence just because it is electronic, but only a qualified electronic signature has the same effect as a handwritten one. When a form or the person you send it to asks for a certified digital signature, use a signing service that issues one. This is general information, not legal advice.
What the signed file contains
- Your fields are drawn into the page content (flattened). A PDF reader cannot drag or delete them the way it can with form fields.
- Dates and typed text are real text in Helvetica, so they stay sharp and searchable. Text that Helvetica cannot show, such as Chinese, Japanese or Korean, is added as an image.
- Everything else in the file is kept: pages, links, bookmarks and form fields. A password-protected PDF is saved without its password.
- Nothing is added that you did not place: no watermark, no footer and no signing certificate.
Tips for a clean signature
- Draw large and use most of the box. The signature is stored as a detailed image, so it stays sharp when you make it smaller on the page.
- For a photo, sign on white paper with a dark pen and take the picture in even light. Remove white background then makes the paper transparent, so only the ink sits on the page.
- On a phone, zoom in with the plus button before you place small fields such as initials.
Private by design
Your PDF and your signature are handled by this page inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded: the tool's code and fonts load from airusk.com, and no request from the page contains your file or your signature. Your signature is kept in this tab's memory and is gone when you close or reload the page.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free to sign a PDF here?
Yes. There is no account, no trial and no watermark, and no limit on how many PDFs you sign or how many pages they have. The only limit is your device's memory.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is opened, shown and signed by this page inside your browser, and the signed copy is created on your device. The tool's code and fonts load from airusk.com, and no request from the page contains your file or your signature.
Is an electronic signature legally binding?
Often, yes. In the United States, the ESIGN Act and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act give electronic signatures the same legal effect as handwritten ones for most transactions, with exceptions such as wills and some court and family-law documents. In the European Union, eIDAS says an electronic signature cannot be denied legal effect just because it is electronic, but only a qualified electronic signature has the same effect as a handwritten one. If a form asks for a certified digital signature, this tool is not enough.
What is the difference between an electronic signature and a digital signature?
An electronic signature is any mark of agreement in electronic form, such as an image of your signature placed on the page, which is what this tool creates. A digital signature is a cryptographic seal made with a certificate issued to the signer. It proves who signed and shows whether the file changed afterward.
Can I sign a PDF on my phone?
Yes. Draw your signature with your finger, then drag it on the page to move it and drag its corner handle to resize it. Zoom in with the plus button for precise placement, or select a field and choose Move, then tap where it should go.
How do I add my initials to every page?
Choose Initials, create them once and place them on a page. With the initials selected, choose Add to all pages to copy them to the same spot on every other page.
Can I sign a password-protected PDF?
Yes. Enter the password when asked; it is checked on your device. The signed copy is saved without the password, so protect it again if it needs one.
Is my signature saved?
No. It is kept only in this browser tab so you can place it several times, and it is gone when you close or reload the page. The tool does not store it in your browser or on a server.
Can someone remove my signature from the signed PDF?
The signature is drawn into the page content, so a normal PDF reader cannot drag it off or delete it like a form field. Anyone with PDF editing software can still change a PDF, though. When you need proof that a document was not altered, use a certificate-based digital signature.
What happens to a PDF that already has a digital signature?
Adding fields rewrites the file, so an existing certificate-based digital signature no longer validates. The tool tells you when the PDF you signed had one.
