Frequently Asked Questions
What is the invoice total calculation formula?
Subtotal = Sum of (Quantity × Unit Price) for all line items. Discount Amount = Subtotal × (discount% / 100) for percentage discounts, or the flat dollar amount entered. After-Discount = Subtotal − Discount Amount. Tax Amount = After-Discount × (Tax Rate / 100). Grand Total = After-Discount + Tax Amount.
Can I apply both a percentage discount and a flat dollar discount?
The calculator supports one discount mode at a time — either a percentage off the subtotal or a fixed flat dollar amount. Toggle between the two modes before entering the discount value. The discount is applied before tax, so a 10% discount on a $1,000 subtotal reduces the taxable base to $900 before sales tax is added.
Which currencies does the invoice generator support?
The calculator supports USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, and KRW. The currency symbol updates throughout the invoice when you change the currency selector. All arithmetic is the same regardless of currency — the tool does not perform currency conversion.
Can I download the invoice as a PDF?
Yes — the calculator uses html2canvas and jsPDF to render the invoice and export it as a downloadable PDF. There is also a Print option and a Copy as Text option. The default invoice date is set to today and the due date defaults to today plus 30 days, both of which you can edit.
Does this invoice generator send invoices to clients or track payments?
No — this is a calculation and document generation tool only. It does not email invoices, track payment status, connect to accounting software, or store records. Download or print the invoice and send it yourself. For invoicing with payment tracking, you would need dedicated software like QuickBooks or FreshBooks.
